Lucerne is high in fibre, and packed with calcium, perfect for young bunnies and guinea pigs under six months for growing bones. Also ideal for ailing and aged rabbits and guinea pigs, weak rescues or thin animals, the sweet taste of lucerne will entice them to eat. Rich in natural vitamins, trace elements and minerals, lucerne is excellent for digestive problems and aids in teeth wear. Because of it’s high calcium content, lucerne should only be given to adult rabbits and rodents in small amounts. Feed them hay, pellets and fresh vegetables instead.
